Close fight in the overall Mini rankings

pro champ 08 poster

A battle is developing at the top of the rankings.  I am currently joint 4th of the 114 ranked sailors in the Series class, hampered by having competed in only two qulaifying races this season.  The  upcoming Azores race is the big scoring event of the year with both legs and the overall result counting, so the rankings are still wide open.  To see the full ranking click here.

4th in the Pornichet Select

The Pornichet Select: 4th place in this 300 mile solo tactical race (with many islands and rocks affecting both the breeze and tide) was a good result.

Local knowledge from winter training in Pornichet helped me to 2nd place at Belle Ile - just behind the eventual winner, Fransisco on 607.  At this point I started to feel very ill and by the time we had rounded the island I was back in the middle of the 41 strong Series fleet.

The next 18 hours were spend VMG running in a pack.  I had a lot of work to do if I was going to finish in the top 10 but still not feeling 100%, I took a few 10 minute cat naps.
